Exploitation of mineral resources involves the transformation of the entire ecosystems. The end of extraction creates the possibility of new land for a great number of plants and animals species allowing them to adapt to a suitable habitat. A properly conducted recultivation should be preceded by a comprehensive stoctaking. In the mine “Szczytniki” are planned a detailed botanical, entomological, ornithological, herpetological and chiropterological researches. The obtained data allows to develop a detailed plan of activities and methods to protect and enhance biodiversity of the mine terrain after the cessation of its activities.
